Bobby Hill Obituary

Robert Lee “Bobby” Hill, 93, beloved husband of Mary Kathryn “Kitty” Hill, passed away Sunday evening at Commonwealth Senior Living (formerly the Hermitage) in Onancock, VA. Born April 14, 1928 in Pocomoke City, MD, he was the son of the late Fred Charles Hill and Mildred Martin Hill.

As a young man, Bobby began working as a salesman for Duncan Brothers Chevrolet in Pocomoke until joining the United States Coast Guard in November of 1950. Following honorable discharge, he returned home to Pocomoke and continued to work for Duncan Bros. until he and Kitty moved to Jenkin’s Bridge, VA in the late 50’s. He then began working for the John W. Taylor Packing Company in Hallwood, VA, retiring as plant manager after many years of service. The Hill residence, known as “Waveland,” was most significant to Bobby and Kitty, as this is where they would raise their children and co-own and operate Waveland Antiques, sharing countless treasured memories along the way. Of his many talents, Bobby was an exceptional dancer and never resisted the opportunity to show off his moves. He loved to play horseshoes at their summer cottage and was always planning the family’s next camping trip or getting ready for a day on the boat. In the late 80’s, Bobby and Kitty relocated to Onancock to enjoy retirement, spending much of their time spoiling their grandchildren. Bobby was a lifetime member of the Elks, having served both Pocomoke City, B.P.O.E. #1624 and Onancock, B.P.O.E. #1766 Lodges.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, he is survived by his children, Mark S. Hill of Onley, VA and Pat Parker and her husband, Harry, of Onancock; sisters, Mildred Hudson and Gail Cathel; grandchildren, Colby Hill and his wife, Kimberly, Katelyn Hill, Matt Parker, and Jake Parker and his fiancé, Taylor; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Addison, and Landon; and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, F.D. Hill.

The family will gather privately for a graveside service at John W. Taylor Cemetery.
