Broaddus Hall Obituary

Broaddus James Hall, 90, husband of the late Julia Mae “Judy” Hall and a resident of Bloxom, VA, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at his home. Born October 19, 1931 in Hallwood, VA, he was the son of the late James Edward Hall and Lillie Mae Hart Hall.

In his early years you would find him on a tractor in a field somewhere, following in the footsteps of his farming father. He moved on from driving tractors to work for VDOT and retired after decades of service as a weigh technician for their station in New Church, VA. Before and during his retirement, his love of the land led him to create and harvest one of the largest private vegetable and fruit gardens on the Shore. You could find him peddling his fruits and veggies on Rt 13 in Nelsonia or from his simple stand in front of his Bloxom home. He was a longtime member of Guilford United Methodist Church, looked forward to hunting and fishing on his days off, NASCAR Sundays, and was always ready to watch a good wrestling match. Nothing was more important to Broaddus than his family, all of whom will forever cherish the beautiful memories shared.

He is survived by his children, Ronnie Edward Hall and his wife, Annette, of Capeville, VA, Teresa Sue Dill and her husband, Larry, of Harrington, DE, David Wayne Hall and his wife, Suzanne, of Eastville, VA, Wanda Hall Caffrey and her husband, Joe, of Onancock, VA, James Edward Hall and his wife, April, of Bloxom, and Bruce Lee Hall of Bloxom; grandchildren, Samantha Green (Jamie), Pamela Hall (Grover), Mary Hall (Brandon), R.J. Hall, Charles Crockett (Anna), Betty Demarco, Jennifer Crockett, Justin Belote, Amanda Stanford (Ty), Drusilla Hall (Spencer), Samantha Turner (Waylon), Brittley Fitchett, Brianna Hall (Jeffrey), Courtney Hall, (Jordan), and Caleb Hall; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Broaddus was predeceased by his infant granddaughter, Pamela Sue Hall.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Will Sloan officiating.
