Charles William Volkmann, Jr., 95, of Richmond, VA, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA. Born September 27, 1928 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Charles William Volkmann, Sr. and Lossie Wilhelmina Cooke Volkmann.
Charles remained in Richmond throughout his life. As co-owner of Neagle Flexo in Ashland, VA, he worked hard as a salesman and engraver and remained involved in day-to-day operations throughout his tenure. Charles was a Master Mason of the Westhampton Masonic Lodge No. 302 and proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Frances Ann Smellie Volkmann, and son, Charles Kirk Volkmann. Charles is survived by a son, William “Keith” Volkmann of Painter, VA; longtime companion, Betty Traylor of Richmond; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
