Dorothy Janette (Bliss) Olewinski

Mrs. Dorothy Janette Olewinski, 82, beloved wife of Joseph Anthony “Joe” Olewinski passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA. Born November 14, 1939 in Johnsonburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Verne Bliss and Esther McAnnich Bliss.

Dorothy graduated from high school in her hometown of Johnsonburg, PA. On November 7, 1964, she married her sweetheart, Joe Olewinski, with whom she built a beautiful life throughout their 58 years of marriage. Dorothy adored her family and was especially close to her grandchildren. Whether called “Grammie” or “Grandma,” nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her grandbabies.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her children, Dawn Smith and her husband, David, of Painter, VA, Michele Lekanka and her husband, Lucas, of Summerville, SC, and Joe, David and Edward Olewinski, all of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Shania, Paul, Chelsie, Mark, Kari, Brandi, Savannah, Adam, Joey, Nicki, and Kelsi; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, John, and Wyatt; sister, Mary Gasbarre; brother, Dale Bliss and his wife, Catherine; sister-in-law, Kathy Bliss; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as their families. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her son, Paul Olewinski and siblings, Donald, Harry, Ernie, Dave, Charles, Ed, John, Martha and Shirley Bliss.

The family will gather privately as they lay Dorothy to rest beside her son at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
