Mrs. Edith Adele Evans, 95, beloved wife of the late Raymond William Evans and a resident of Berlin, MD, formerly of Lindenhurst, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at her son’s home in Parksley, VA. Born July 10, 1927 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Peter Marta and Carmela DeLuca Marta.
In the early 40’s, Edith met the love of her life, Raymond William Evans, with whom she shared a beautiful life. They worked side by side, both at home and at work, as Edith served as the secretary for the family business, Materials Handling. Raised catholic, she remained close to her faith throughout her life and was most recently a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Berlin. The kindest of souls, Edith was always first to offer a helping hand, whether shopping for family or those in need or going out of her way to take care of those who couldn’t care for themselves. Edith was a fun-loving, free spirit who enjoyed singing, dancing, celebrating special occasions with family and friends, and was often dabbling in various craft projects.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Evans and his wife, Penny, of Berlin; daughter-in-law, Mary Zbegner of Tunkhannock, PA; grandchildren, Jonathan Evans and his wife, Anne, of Park City, UT, Ryan Evans of Berlin, Kathy Davis and her husband, Seth, of Arlington, VA, and Lauren Horween and her husband, Nick, of Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Leo and Siena Davis, Amelia and Emmett Evans, and Gabriel and Sam Horween. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Dwight Evans; sisters, Virginia Zeiber and her husband, Ed, Adele Marta, Lucy Mammolito, Gloria Scaglione and her husband, Vinnie.
Family and friends will meet at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home, 424 S. Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst, NY, on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. and process to St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, a gathering will be held at Goccia D’oro II, 485 W.
