Evelyn was raised in Richmond, and as fate would have it, she and Sam first met as teenagers while attending separate high schools in the area. Following high school, she attended Mary Washington College and then transferred to MCV School of Pharmacy (now VCU Medical Center). In 1973, Evelyn and Sam returned to his roots on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, residing first in the town of Onancock and then for 32 years at “Warwick” in Quinby.  Evelyn quickly became the beloved pharmacist at Wise’s Drug Store, Peoples Drug and lastly CVS. She was a long standing member of Market Street United Methodist Church. As a certified Master Gardener, Evelyn was involved in various garden clubs over the years. She was a member and past president of the Ye Accawmacke Garden Club and a member of The Garden Club of the Eastern Shore. As a daffodil enthusiast, she volunteered as an accredited judge for the American Daffodil Society and won numerous blue ribbons and silver cups for her own flowers.

Survivors include her three sons, William Floyd “Buddy” Nock and Eva Mittelmaier of Pungoteague, VA, Anthony Watson “Tony” Nock and Neilly of Accomac, and Dr. Allen Brittingham “George” Nock and Tracy of Blue Springs, MS; five grandchildren, Sam Ames Nock, Benson Floyd Nock, William Tillery Nock, Jeffery Ames Nock and Katie Elizabeth Nock; sister, Betty Martin of Richmond; sister-in-law, Rosemary Henderson of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
