Gary Alan MacPhee, 72, a resident of Onancock, VA, formerly of New York, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, with his son and daughter-in-law at his side. Born August 5, 1947 in Mount Kisco, NY, he was the son of the late Kenneth MacPhee and Blanche Gildersleeve “Vel” MacPhee.
As the life of the party, there was never a dull moment when in Gary’s presence, a fact his many friends can attest to. The laid back lifestyle of the Eastern Shore fit Gary’s personality perfectly. He enjoyed being surrounded by friends, spending afternoons fishing, and as a history buff, you’d rarely stop by that he wasn’t watching the history channel. All who knew Gary are grateful for the many good times and laughs from a life well-lived – a life that will be forever remembered and celebrated.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara MacPhee; sons, Brian MacPhee and his wife, Janet, of New York and Evan MacPhee of New Jersey; sister, Alice Davidson and her husband, Daryl; and aunt and uncle, Sue and George Graham. Gary is also survived by countless friends on the Shore and was especially thankful for his dear friends and neighbors, Bruce Herbert and Fred and Kim Miller.
To respect Gary’s wishes, the family will have a private celebration of his life at a later date.
