George Jackson “Jack” Taylor, Jr. – loving son, husband, father, and brother – passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the age of 40. A lifelong resident of Bloxom, VA, Jack was born August 14, 1984 in Nassawadox, VA to Louise Mae Hart Taylor of Bloxom and the late George Jackson Taylor, Sr.
Those who knew Jack best would say his driving force in life was his family, especially his children, as well as his career at Drummond’s and the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company. For nearly a decade, Jack worked for H.W. Drummond where he started as a driver delivering parts, but his dependability and strong work ethic soon led him to become store manager at their Greenbush, VA location. When he wasn’t at work or with his family Jack was at his second home, the firehouse. Soon after his father’s passing in 2013, Jack found comfort in continuing his father’s lifelong commitment as a volunteer firefighter, proudly serving under his monitor number, 616. Jack’s legacy of love, loyalty, and service will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and community.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Mindy Sue Taylor; children, Connor, Rachel, Andrew, and Dylan Taylor; sister, Georgie Taylor of Onancock, VA; brother, Michael Corey Taylor of Oak Hall, VA; sister-in-law, Jacklyn Bishop and her husband, J.R.; brother-in-law, Jay Farlow and his wife, Marissa; uncle-in-law, Bobby Blankenship, with whom he shared a special bond; nieces, Aubree Taylor and Hunter May and Chelsea Bishop; great-niece, Mia Jones; and his extended family at the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company. Other than his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Barnes.
Jack’s family will greet friends for a visitation at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Belle Haven Cemetery on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Mark Layne officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations be made to Williams Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Parksley, VA 23421 (www.williamsfuneralhomes.com/payments), to assist with funeral expenses.
