Mrs. Georgie Anna Daisey Brown, 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Parksley, VA, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born August 1, 1951, on Chincoteague Island, VA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Daisey and Agnes Lenora Pearl Allen.
At 18, Georgie ventured from Chincoteague to Ohio to live with her sister, Julie – a move that would beautifully shape the rest of her life. Not long after arriving, she met the love of her life, Wayne. Just three months later, they were married, beginning a 54-year love story grounded in devotion, laughter, and partnership.
Georgie’s gift for baking blossomed early and grew into a lifelong passion and career. Through her beloved business, Sweet Georgie Brown Sweets, she poured love into every dessert, blessing countless people with her talent. She never met a stranger, embraced life with curiosity, and delighted in trying new things. Together, she and Wayne enjoyed countless adventures – ballroom dancing, bowling, motorcycle rides, and travels that created memories they treasured.
After many years in Ohio, Georgie and Wayne returned to her roots on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where they found joy in family and in the quiet pleasures of home. Georgie continued baking – becoming especially known for her Smith Island cakes – and spent recent years working alongside her dear friend, Debbie Russell, at Russell’s Formal and Bridal.
Family was the heart of Georgie’s world. She loved openly and abundantly, sharing an unbreakable bond with her husband, siblings, children, and great-grandchildren. Though she adored them all, her greatest joy was hearing her beloved great-granddaughter call her “Gigi.” Georgie’s smile – her true superpower – was a source of comfort and warmth, and it remained as bright as ever through her final days. It is that smile, full of love and kindness, that she would want all to remember.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wayne E. Brown, Jr.; her children, Wayne Christopher Brown of Pennsylvania and Amie Melissa Brown (Lance) of Parksley; her sisters, Julie Rae Coulier and Lenora Nekunas, both of Parksley; her brother, Jack Bonniwell, and his wife, Bonnie, of Florida; grandchildren, Chandler Brown and Morgan Daisey Brown (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Blair and Ashton; sisters-in-law, Martha Meese and Judy Mellot (Larry); as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Stella Smack; baby sister, Mary Anne Daisey; brothers-in-law, Nick Nekunas and Alex Caulier, and sisters-in-law, Nancy Parks, Anna Treece, and Shirley Dunn.
Georgie’s family gathered privately to honor her life and the love she so freely gave. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to Riverside Shore Cancer Center, P.O. Box 430, Onancock, VA 23417.
