Gwen Stonelake

M. Gwendolyn (Gwen) Stonelake, 98, of Cape Charles, Va., formerly of Glen Mills, Pa., passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Va.  Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey E. Stonelake, with whom she founded, owned and operated the Stonelake Funeral Home in Lansdowne, Pa. for over 30 years.

Born in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late M. Mildred Lessner (nee Thompson) and Charles C. Lessner.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Aldra Lauterbach (William) of Crofton, Va., and Jane Mitman (Henry) of Alexandria, Va.

She is survived by one daughter, Gwen S. Carroll (Elliott) of Cape Charles; three grandchildren, E. Paul Carroll of Elverson, Pa., Jennifer Fitch (James) of Annapolis, Md., and Laura Davis (Ryan) of Middletown, De.; four great-grandchildren, Kate and Christopher Fitch of Annapolis, and Connor and Drew Davis of Middletown.

To honor her wishes, funeral services will be private for immediate family, and interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pa.
