Jane Heppding Obituary

Mrs. Mary “Jane” Heppding, 81, beloved wife of Gene Earl Heppding and a resident of Onancock, VA, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at her home, with her loving family at her side. Born April 12, 1938 in Baltimore, MD and reared in Point Pleasant, MD, she was a daughter of the late Leland Franklin Helmstetter, Sr. and Anna Coolahan Helmstetter.

Jane loved being surrounded by loved ones and looked forward to cooking meals for holidays and family gatherings. She was a member of the Exmore Moose Lodge #683, was an avid bowler and participated in a league for several years, and enjoyed collecting ceramics. Jane and Gene adored one another and were inseparable throughout their 64 years of marriage. Though Jane and Gene didn’t have children of their own, they treasured their nieces and nephews, and there was nothing they wouldn’t do for them. Jane’s memory will forever be cherished, and her life forever celebrated, through the countless memories made with those she loved.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Ann Rigdon of Ormond Beach, FL; seven nieces, Terri Callaway, Susan Moore (Thom), Karen Nelson (Kevin), Debbie Pearlman (Adam), Brenda Reynolds (Tom), Michelle Check, Kristin Zach (Andrew); sister-in-law, Jo Helmstetter; and several great nieces and great nephews. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Blanche “Sue” Brandick and her husband Bill; brother, Leland Franklin Helmstetter, Jr.; brother-in-law, Jim Rigdon; nephew, Curtis Mattern; and nephew-in-law, Donnie Calloway.

To honor her wishes, funeral services will be private.
