Jenny Lee (Taylor) Thornes

Mrs. Virginia Taylor “Jenny Lee” Thornes, 65, wife of Woodrow “Woody” Thornes, Sr. and a resident of Guilford, VA, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD with her family by her side. Born August 12, 1957 in Nassawadox, VA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Lee “Dang” Taylor and Frances Ann Williams Taylor.

Jenny graduated from Parksley High School in 1975 and married the love of her life that same year. Together, they raised three beautiful children and owned and operated Woody’s Auto Service in Onancock, VA, where Jenny always looked forward to helping and chatting with her customers. She loved all animals, especially her furbaby, Radar. Jenny enjoyed gardening and was the proud owner of “the most beautiful tree in Guilford,” her beloved cherry tree. She adored her family and never missed an opportunity to spoil her grandbabies, all of whom loved their “Nan.”

In addition to her husband of 47 years, she is survived by her children, Woodrow Thornes, Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Guilford; Melody Thornes Wright and her husband, Marty, of Roanoke, VA; and Tabitha Thornes Sellers and her husband, Wyatt, of Guilford; sister, Tammie Noyes and her husband, Ray; brothers, Danny Ray Taylor and Elsie and David Pruitt and his wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Levi Thornes, Avery Payne, and Eva Wright; aunt, Barbara Reynolds; stepmother, Betty Taylor; special friends, JoLynn Hart and Violet Nedab; as well as numerous cousins. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her grandmother, Nettie Taylor.

Services will be conducted from the chapel at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
