Jerry W.Teabo, 72, of Belle Haven, VA, passed away in his home on May 12, 2024.
Jerry was born in Harmony, NJ, on August 8, 1951, a son to the late George W and Gertrude F Teabo. He grew up in Harmony with his eight siblings and graduated from Belvidere High School in 1969. Jerry was drafted right after high school and chose to be in the Navy. He served in Vietnam. He served six years active duty and rounded out 28 years as a reservist, retiring in 1997 as a Chief Boatswain’s Mate. While in service, he served as an instructor at Naval Damage Control School in Philadelphia teaching others to fight ship-board fires. Jerry was also a volunteer firefighter in Phillipsburg and Washington, NJ. He worked as an auditor for Selective Insurance, custodian at Harmony Elementary School, and as a boiler tender at Hackettstown Hospital. Hunting and fishing were two of Jerry’s passions. He loved to tell a good story about his adventures hunting and fishing and in the military.
In addition to his wife, Kelley Teabo, he is survived by his daughter, Cortney Teabo; grandson, Liam Taynor; sisters, Etta Brunell and Sharon Harper; brothers, Harold Teabo and Dean Teabo; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends can join in a celebration of Jerry’s life on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., at Belle Haven United Methodist Church, 35446 Belle Haven Road, Belle Haven, VA 23306.
