Jerry Via Obituary

Mr. Jerry Lee Via, 88, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Parksley, VA, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Born October 12, 1933 in Alderson, WV and raised in Selma, VA, he was the son of the late Guy Allen Via and Pauline Cook Via.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief, in 1974, after nearly 21 years. During his time in the Navy he specialized in aviation, primarily working as a structural mechanic.

Jerry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce May Via. He is survived by his children, Mark Via, Jo Aiken and her husband, James, Karen Finster, and Patricia Via Cook and her husband, Dr. Desmond Cook, all of Virginia Beach, and James Via and his wife, Jaime, of Worthington, OH; sister, Nancy Via Hall; sisters-in law, Judy Berry Via and Mary Nicely; grandchildren, Megan O'Hara Goodwin, Chelsea Aiken Harrell, Olivia Aiken, Rachel Cook Luciani, Daniel Cook, Jonathan Via and Jordan Via; great-grandsons, Adam Goodwin and Wyatt Harrell; and several nieces and nephews.

At Jerry’s request, no public service will be held.
