Mr. James Marvin “Jim” Williams, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Commonwealth Senior Living on the Eastern Shore. Born April 27, 1934 in Denver, CO, he was the son of the late Marvin Julius Williams and Royalene Bogue Williams.
Jim was a kind and gracious man who lived a life full of great accomplishment and adventure. He served his country in the United States Navy, and later earned his master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of New Mexico. He spent his career workingwith the United States Department of Energy and the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and upon retirement, moved to the town of Onancock located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The waterfront community of Onancock provided great opportunity for Jim to pursue his passion for sailing. He also enjoyed participating in the Barbershop Chorus, and most notably, served as the town’s mayor.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his wife, and the mother of his children, Dottie Powers Williams, in 2001, and wife, Mary Martha Christianson in 2018. Survivors include his children, Brentley James Williams and husband, Scot Eastwood, of Santa Fe, NM and Marcy Williams Huster and husband, Bill, of Richmond, VA; brother, Dennis L. Williams and wife,Gladys, of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren; Timothy AldenHuster of Seattle, WA and Zachary James Huster of Richmond, VA; and four nephews and their families.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be scheduled for a later date.
