John Tieskotter, Jr. Obituary

John D. Tieskotter, Jr., 48, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA, with his family by his side. Born March 3, 1974 in Great Lakes, IL and raised in Waterloo, IA, he was the son of John L. Tieskotter, Sr. of Conway, MO and the late Cheryl Smith Warren and stepson of Carmelita Tieskotter of Conway and Paul Warren of Virginia Beach, VA.

John graduated from Columbus High School in Waterloo, class of 1992. Later that year, he enlisted in the United States Army and was proud to have had the honor to serve his country. In 1999, he married his soulmate, Melinda Uilani Lendrum, and in 2003 they moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. John brought a little Iowa to the Shore, raising cattle, goats, ducks, and chickens on his property, appropriately named, “What the Farm.” He was the current Rendering Maintenance Manager for Tyson Foods, where he not only worked, but had made many great friendships over the years. He enjoyed cooking and baking, but especially looked forward to a day of smoking ribs. Always with a smile and a joke, John was the kind of person who instantly made others feel at ease. He was a devoted husband, the best daddy a girl could have, the kind of “Pa” that never said “no,” and the kind of man who loved unconditionally and completely, family or not.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Melinda Tieskotter; daughters, Rebecca Tieskotter (Keston Foster) of Owasso, OK and Stephanie Boan (Carter) of Pocomoke City, MD; sister, Melissa Lang (Aaron) of Waterloo; brothers, Raymond Tieskotter of Virginia Beach, and Wilfred Tieskotter (Angie) and Danny Ginther (Ashley) all of Waterloo; grandchildren, Ethan, Eli, Emmy, Lee, Mia, Peyton, Everleigh, and Carter, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Lacee, Morgan, Madison, Ary, Emma, Kayla, Austin, Gabe, Mitchell, Brayden, and Dayton; lifelong best friends, Brian Morgansen and Bill Lankford; as well as many extended family members.
