Kalman Williams Obituary

Mr. Kalman Jefferson “J.D.” Williams, 92, husband of the late Betty J. Collins Williams and a resident of Grotons, VA, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA.

Born March 3, 1927 in Sanford, VA, he was a son of the late Randolph T. Williams and Miriam Godwin Williams.  Mr. Williams served his country in the United States Coast Guard during WWII, stationed off the coast of Japan aboard the USS Peterson.  He was an active parishioner at Pocomoke United Methodist Church in Grotons, enjoying fellowship with other members; worked at Hallwood canning factory, Holly Farms, and retired as a salesman at Jaxon’s in Parksley; was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan; and loved being around his family and friends.

Survivors include his three children, Kalman J. “Jeff” Williams, Jr., and Steven Franklin “Steve” Williams and his wife Debbie, all of Messongo, VA, and Timothy L. Williams of Grotons; four grandchildren, Mickey (Melissa), Jason, Steven (Erica), and Allen (Emily); seven great-grandchildren, Michelle, Tonya, Anthony, Bella, Gracie, Damion, and Junior; a sister, Rosalee Taylor of Parksley; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Irene Ayres; and four brothers, William, Oldring, Adrion and Gramble Williams.

A funeral service will be conducted from the Pocomoke United Methodist Church in Grotons, Monday, June 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Maury Enright will officiate, and interment with military honors will follow in the Knight family cemetery.  A visitation will be held at church, one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pocomoke UMC Building Fund, 24406 Saxis Road, Temperanceville, VA  23442.
