It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected death of Kimberly “Kim” Birdsall on Friday, October 18, 2024. Kim would have been 58 years young in November. Born and raised in Wall, NJ, she graduated from Wall Township High School.
Kim and the love of her life, Richard “Rich” Ruge, have shared their lives together for the past 35 years, the last 15 of which were spent living in Onancock, VA.
Kim is mom to Marcus Sculthorpe and stepmom to Kurt Ruge. She is the daughter of Effie Maguire and the late James Birdsall, with whom she now joins in Heaven. She is sister to Ken Birdsall and Patricia Brewer with Mark Kulbacky, all of whom reside in Keysville, VA. She also has two nephews, Jon Tempest and Ray Brewer and their families, and over 30 cousins who live all over the country.
Kim’s son Marcus and girlfriend, Jackie Mason, recently moved to Onancock to be close to his mom. Kim was thrilled to have Jackie join the family. She adored her son and cherished her birthday trips with Marcus every year, mostly to the Amish Country.
Kim grew up loving and riding her horses, even riding her horse for homecoming dressed as the mascot, The Wall Knight, galloping across the football field. While Kim loved the farm life, growing vegetables and beautiful flowers, everything revolved around her horses and all her beloved animals, which were many. Her lifelong love and attentiveness to working and caring for horses gave proof to the ol’ Danish Proverb, “Care, and not fine stables, makes a good horse.”
Kim’s friends and family are overwhelmed by her passing and will miss her more than words can express.
A viewing will be held at the chapel of Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
