Alice Elizabeth "Libby" Riddle, of Crisfield, MD, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Parksley, VA, leaving behind a family who deeply mourns the loss of a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Born on January 5, 1960, in Cape Charles, VA, Libby was the youngest of six children and the beloved daughter of Thomas Edgar Brady—whom she affectionately called “High Pockets”—and Virginia Madie Prindle. From the start, she was a little firecracker, full of energy and spirit. She worked hard, but she played just as hard, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. With Bob Seger or AC/DC blasting on the radio, she loved cruising the backroads, the wind whipping through her hair, and the thrill of freedom in her heart.
Libby had a deep love for the water and could almost always be found with a fishing rod in hand, soaking up the sun and waiting for the perfect catch. A proud patriot, she once served as the Past President of the American Legion in Florida. Though she moved between Florida and Virginia throughout her life, she always found her home near the water. A little competitive by nature, Libby spent many Friday nights at the Moose Lodge in Belle Haven, battling it out over BINGO.
More than anything, Libby loved being a wife and mother. Like a lioness with her cubs, she was fierce, protective, loyal, and loving. Once the grandkids were born, well, that was all she wrote. Her grandbabies were the apples of her eye. She leaves behind a family who will forever miss her but will carry the lessons she taught them in their hearts.
Libby is survived by her husband of 28 years, John Edgar Riddle of Crisfield, MD; children, Jennifer Kuzara (Todd) of Florida, Ruby "Toni" Dix (Irvin Jr.) of Cashville, VA, Crystal Benedict (Floyd) of Bloxom, VA, and John Copeland of Crisfield, MD; sister, Jane Gillespie of Florida; grandchildren, Chanceton, Trayse, and Khonor Kuzara, Irvin III and Rick Dix, Layora Norman, and Austin and Taylor Benedict; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Lainee, and Lillyann Kuzara and Asher Norman; several nieces and nephews and their families; and a host of extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Brady and Patricia Fluhart, and brothers, Charles Brady and Thomas Brady.
A service to celebrate the life of Libby Riddle will be held at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Mr. John Jennestreet officiating.
