Linda Johnson Obituary

Mrs. Linda Anne Trader Johnson, 82, beloved wife of James R. Johnson and a lifelong resident of Parksley, VA, passed away with her husband by her side, on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center.

Born August 23, 1935, in Parksley, she was the daughter of the late George T. Trader, Jr. and Maude Johnson Trader.  Linda graduated from Parksley High School, and received an Associate Degree from Goldey-Beacom School of Business (now Goldey-Beacom College) in Wilmington, DE.

Linda was Manager of Medical Records for 37 years, at the former Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital (now Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital) in Nassawadox, VA.  She was the first Accredited Record Technician (now Registered Health Information Technician) on the Eastern Shore.  Linda held Honorary Lifetime Memberships in the American Health Information Management Association and the Virginia Health Information Management Association, and was a former member of Southern Worcester County AARP.  She was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Parksley, loved reading and traveling, and keeping in touch with ‘old’ friends.  At the end of a very lengthy illness, Linda greatly appreciated the love and support of her husband and daughter, and her sisters-in-law and their husbands.

In addition to her loving husband, Linda is survived by her daughter, Debra Johnson McWhinney and her husband, Mark McWhinney, of Mountain View, CA; three grandchildren, Patrick James Johnson and his wife, Cari Johnson, of Greenbackville, VA, and Emma Olivia McWhinney and Katherine Taylor McWhinney, of Mountain View, CA; five great-grandchildren, Richard James Johnson II, Taylor Johnson Gardner, Warren Scott Johnson, Kylie Lynn Johnson and Bristol Lynn Johnson; two great-great-granddaughters, Kailynn Marie Gardner and Riley Grace Johnson; and several cousins throughout Virginia.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Richard James Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Philip Godwin and Mr. George Fulk officiating.  Interment will follow in the Parksley Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
