Lois was Born in Staten Island, NY on March 29, 1930. She grew up in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island and graduated from Port Richmond High School. In early 1958, she met the love of her life, Jack Baird, while skiing with the Westerlites. She and Jack knew it was true love and married later that year. Lois, a mother of three, was a Camp Fire Girls leader and was active in her church, Huguenot Reformed Church. Lois and Jack were an integral part of saving the wetlands at Blue Heron Park, which is now a Nature Preserve in the Annadale section of Staten Island. In 2016, Jack passed away and Lois continued living in the home they built together until September 2019, when she moved to a memory care center in Onancock, VA.
Lois is survived by her two daughters, Kerry Baird and her husband Douglas Matthews, and Allison Coughlan and her fiancé John Flanagan, and three granddaughters, Caleigh and Emily Simpkins and Lauren Matthews.
