Margie Phillips Obituary

Mrs. Margie Windsor Phillips, 93, wife of the late Harrison Warren Phillips, Sr., passed away peacefully at her home in Parksley, VA on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Born October 4, 1928 in Onancock, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hugh Windsor, Jr. and Carrie Lee Nottingham Windsor.

As the matriarch of the Phillips family and a beloved icon in the town of Parksley, Margie led by example through her endless devotion to loved ones, her invaluable contribution to the family businesses and her community, and her resolute faith in the Lord. Margie graduated from Onancock High School, class of 1946. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Harrison Warren Phillips. Over the next decade they welcomed the births of their four children, and in September of 1956, the inception of Jaxon’s Department Store, now Jaxon’s Inc. Throughout the years, their family continued to grow, along with the business. Margie loved spoiling her grandbabies and great-grandbabies and anxiously awaited the next ballgame as much as she looked forward to spending countless hours making sure the store ran smoothly and lived up to their motto: “If Jaxon’s doesn’t have it, you don’t need it.” As busy as she was, Margie rarely missed a Sunday service at Grace United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Though Margie never really retired, she and Harrison enjoyed traveling when he could talk her into it, which often involved a trip to Lancaster, PA.

Margie proudly and confidently leaves to continue her life’s work and honor her legacy her children, Betty Phillips Hart of Parksley, Jane H. Phillips of Manakin Sabot, VA, Janice Phillips Hart and her husband, Michael, of Parksley, and Harrison “Warren” Phillips, Jr. of Parksley; grandchildren, Ginger Hart Villanueva, Eric Hart (April), Devon Hickman (Justin), Harrison Warren Phillips III (Shannon), Paul “Trae” Revelle (Mandi), and Allison Leigh Hart; great-grandchildren, Addison, Spencer, Tyler, Lindsey, Cassidy, Harper, Hayven, Ramsey, and Gavin; nephew, Albert LeCato, Jr.; Judy Upchurch, who was like a daughter; and her caregiver and dear friend, Rosemary Hill, whose care and compassion was a true blessing. She also leaves behind her precious “granddogs,” Heidi, Josie, Harleigh, and Major. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Christopher Kerr Hart and sister, Beulah Belle LeCato and her husband, Albert Lecato, as well as their sons, Jerry, Charles, and Johnny LeCato.
