Martha Means

Mrs. Martha Means, 82, wife of Shaun Hart Means and resident of Belle Haven, VA, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. Born February 6, 1941 in Edinburg, TX, she was the only child of the late Betty Foster Aguilar and Enrique Aguilar.

Among her many talents and interests, Martha was an accomplished dancer. Her passion for the arts began at an early age, having taken ballet lessons in her youth and eventually becoming a professional dancer. She later began working as chief of security for Tiffany’s Drug Store, overseeing several stores in Oregon. Martha’s unwavering faith in Jesus Christ guided her every step, and she remained devoted to the Lord throughout her life. She was a member of the Eastern Shore Christian Center, a minor scholar in biblical prophecy studies, and she especially loved to teach and share the word of Christ. Martha was an excellent cook and enjoyed tole painting and collecting antiques. She leaves a legacy of love, faith, and resilience whose spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.

In addition to her husband of nearly 40 years, she is survived by her daughter, Lisa Rachelle Nelson; grandchildren, Jason Darnelle, Kaleb Nelson, and Grace Evans; and great-grandchildren, Israel and Nehemiah Darnelle and Farrah, Iva, and Emilia Evans; five great-great grandchildren; and cousins, Kenneth and Neal Sausen and Sharon Korell.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., with The Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
