Martin Bull Obituary

Mr. Martin Parks Bull, Sr., 84, beloved husband of Margaret Ferguson Bull and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at his home.

Born November 12, 1937 in Cheriton, VA and reared in Parksley, he was the son of the late Edward Parks Bull and Pansy Martin Bull. Martin was a 1957 graduate of Parksley High School, served in the National Guard, a member of Grace United Methodist Church; and loved golfing with friends and working in his yard. He was a Master Mason and a loyal, dedicated Masonic Veteran 50-year Member of Central Lodge #300, A.F. & A.M., member of Khedive Shrine Temple, and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Bodies. He began his Masonic journey with the former Parksley Lodge #325, A.F. & A.M., where he was a Past Worshipful Master.

Martin entered his working career as a Pattern Maker with Newport News Shipbuilding, then was a Meat Manager for the former Colonial Stores grocery chain.  However, mostly everyone on the Eastern Shore knows Martin as the owner/operator of The Lunch Box in Parksley, a local iconic food establishment he and his wife Margaret successfully ran for over 40 years. Not only did generations of teenagers have their first job at The Lunch Box, but they also learned the values of hard-work, dedication, and many lifelong lessons from the Bull family.

In addition to his loving wife, Martin is survived by his two children, Martin “Marty” Parks Bull, Jr., and Amber Kay Bull and wife Michelle L. Hinman, all of Parksley; three grandchildren, Miranda Bull, Abigail Bull, and Finn Bull; two great-grandchildren, Loralei and Renlee Charnock; a brother-in-law, Russell M. Justis; and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, Martin was predeceased by his sister, Ann Bull Justis.

Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be conducted from the graveside at the Parksley Cemetery on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Bob Boyce officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Processing Center, P.O. Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394 (donate.lovetotherescue.org).
