Michael Ray Pruitt, 70, of Northside Chesconnessex VA, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA. Born July 19, 1950 in Nassawadox, VA, he was the son of the late Morris Ray Pruitt and Katie Gene Williams Pruitt.
Mike was a waterman through and through and lived for days working on the water. He worked as a tug boat mate and later became a captain, often pulling pots with his brother and other local waterman on his days off. Always with a hug and a big smile, Mike never met a stranger and was a dear friend to many.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie M. Pruitt and her children, Cameron and Bella Mya Townsend, all of Parksley; sister, Marsha Thomas of Onancock; brother, Mark Pruitt and his wife, Donna, of Northside Chesconnessex; niece, Ashley Gene Harrison and her husband, Joseph, of Birdsnest VA; and nephew, Jacob C. Thomas of Onancock. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew, Mark W. Pruitt, Jr.
Services will be private.
