Nancy Romines Machacek

Mrs. Nancy (Romines) Machacek, 79, wife of Verne Machacek and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley.

Born June 14, 1943 in Bucyrus, MO, she was the daughter of the late Arthur David Romines and Irene (Stilley) Peterson. In her early years, Nancy was a hairdresser and owned her own salon. She enjoyed traveling, making crafts, and spending every winter with her husband in Quartzsite, AZ, selling their beautiful creations. Nancy loved to fish, can food, and crochet. She served as a board member of the First Church of Nazarene in Montrose, CO for many years. Her love was not reserved just for her family, she was also a foster parent for 36 children in Montrose, CO. Later, after moving to Houston, MO, Nancy volunteered at the local food pantry for over 20 years. They moved to Parksley, VA in July of 2019.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by her three children, Michael Machacek and his wife, Brandy, of Grand Junction, CO, Monica Hall and her husband, Horace Jr. (Sonny), of Parksley, VA, and Dayna Greene and her husband, Christopher, of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Marie and Michael, Alan and wife, Cassie, Charles and wife, Kelly, Horace III (Trey), Chelsea and husband Seth, Marisa, Joey and wife Lexi, Jake, AJ, Aden, and KC; and finally, ten great-grandchildren: Justin, Mackenzie, Dylan, Bradley, Jacob, Gianna, Rhys, Elizabeth, Rylee and Allison.

Nancy’s family will gather privately to celebrate her life.
