Ms. Norma D. Sprague, 90, of Onancock, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 5, 2022. Born April 19, 1932 in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of Ralph N. Wolfe and Carrie F. Davis and stepdaughter of Harry W. Davis.
Norma graduated from Bloxom High School, class of 1950, and married Donald C. Smith the following year, spending the next two decades traveling the world as an Army wife. Upon their return to the Eastern Shore, Norma began working as a clerical assistant for Ginsberg, Nottingham, and Mapp, and later, for the Virginia State Police. In retirement, she became a member of the K4BW Eastern Shore Amateur Radio Club, a hobby she has greatly enjoyed over the years. Norma adored her family and especially looked forward to time spent with them.
In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, MSG Donald C. Smith; their daughter, Denise L. Maddox; and her second husband, Bill Sprague, to whom she was married for over 35 years.
She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory, her children, Donna S. Baker and Dale L. Smith and his wife, Susan, all of Onancock; son-in-law, Rob Maddox of Crisfield, MD; Ryan Baker (Tammara), Josh Baker (Ashlynn), Jessica Baker, Mandi Holland (Robert), and Jason Hart (April); and great-grandchildren, Natalee, Collin, Trevor, Jacob, Olivia, David, Kiley, Carter, Jackson, and Avery, all of whom she very much adored.
To honor Norma’s wishes, the family will gather privately to celebrate her life.
