Patricia Ann Bane, 88, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025 at her home in Atlantic, VA. A native of Syracuse, NY, Pat was born August 22, 1936 to the late John Joseph Bane and Edna Mae Diefendorf Bane.
Pat worked as a librarian at Syracuse University for many years and later served as the executive director for Murder Victims’ Families for Reconciliation (MVFR). Her passion for helping others continued through her longtime role as an ESL and GED teacher. Pat loved animals, both pets and wildlife, and enjoyed many hobbies including volunteering for various duties and grant writing for the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Joyce Maher; nephews and niece, Matthew Maher, Kevin Maher, Brian (Diane) Maher, and Elizabeth (Charles) Ovesny; great-nieces and great-nephews, Melissa Maher, Thomas Maher, Mark Ovesny, Zachary Ovesny, Sabrina Maher, and Shane Maher, as well as many friends.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
