Patricia Jacob Obituary

Patricia Kappes Jacob passed away on November 18, 2020 at her home in Uvalde, Texas, surrounded by her immediate family. She was known as “Patty” by her friends and “Gran” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patty was born January 22, 1934, in Accomack County, Virginia, to Karl and Mildred Kappes. She grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia where she attended school in Onancock, Virginia. In 1955, Patty married William Custis “Bill” Jacob, Jr. Soon thereafter she moved to Uvalde as a young bride, with Bill, who was in the produce business. For many years, Patty assisted Bill in the produce business in the Uvalde area in the winter months, and on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, in the summer months.

Patty and Bill had three children, William Custis Jacob III, Karla Jacob Davis and Tricia Jacob all of whom attended school and graduated high school in Uvalde. She was very close to her children, especially after Bill passed in 1985. Then with grandchildren, and later, with great-grandchildren, Patty’s main focus was always family. A phenomenal cook, everyone enjoyed Gran’s meals. Patty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Uvalde.

Her survivors include her brother, Jerry Kappes and his wife, Jackie Kappes, of Bethany Beach, Delaware; her son, William Custis Jacob III and his fiancé, Mandy Pruitt, of Uvalde; her daughter, Karla Kappes Davis and her husband, John Allen Davis, Jr., of Midland, Texas and their children, John Jacob Davis and his wife, Elizabeth Davis, Kyle Allen Davis and his wife, Chelsea Davis, and Kali Ann Davis, all of Midland, Texas; as well as great-grandchildren, Case, Emma, Bradford, Campbell, Annie and Mary Kyle, all of Midland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Mildred Kappes; her husband, William Custis Jacob, Jr.; and her youngest daughter, Tricia Jacob.

Patty will be missed by family and friends. However, she has fought the fight and finished the race. Because of her deep faith and assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ, we know she is in a better place.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church, in Uvalde, Texas, on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at the Edge Hill Cemetery in Accomac, Virginia. The family plans to hold a memorial service on the Eastern Shore once it is safe to gather.
