He was a longtime member of Onancock Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1766; an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed attending races when possible; and served on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau and the former Metompkin Bank & Trust Company.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Judy L. Godwin; his son Ralph L. Godwin, Jr.; and his sisters and brothers, Mary G. Young, Sarah G. Koss, Norman James Godwin, Jr., Gene E. Godwin, and William Godwin.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Rodney L. Godwin and his wife Vanessa of Parksley, VA; his granddaughter, Sara L. Godwin; sister-in-law, Norma G.
