Rebecca Cantrell

With heartfelt sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Rebecca "Becky" Cantrell, who peacefully entered eternal rest on May 12, 2025, at the age of 83.

Becky was the steady light in our family--a woman of quiet faith, gentle strength, and boundless love. She devoted her life to caring for those around her, and her legacy will forever live on in the lives she touched. Her home was constant and unconditional.

She is survived by her children: Dale Cantrell, Johnny Cantrell, and Donna Callaway (Pierce Taylor); her grandchildren: Brandy Hicks (Chris Hicks), Amanda Cantrell, and Chelsea Cantrell (Sky Shanahan); and her great-grandchildren: Dalton Hicks (Savannah Redmon), Stoney Hicks (Lailani Hicks), Dayton Blackwell, A.J. Powell, and one great-grandchild expected in November. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Hughey; a son-in-law, Gary Callaway (Angie Ainsworth); a brother-in-law, Ricky Jolley (Sandra Jolley); and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Becky was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.L. Cantrell; her parents, Lillian and Moody Hughey; her brothers, Willard Hughey and Oscar Hughey; and her in-laws, Lillian and B.P. Jolley.

The family will mourn privately at the family home in Accomac, VA.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will remain -- in every memory shared, every life she shaped, and every act of love passed forward in her name. Rest in peace, Becky. You will live on in all of us.
