Regina Clevenger, 86, of Parksley, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Born on April 19, 1939, in Germany, she was the daughter of George and Ani Müeller Kreipl. Growing up in post-war Germany, Regina developed a deep appreciation for family and the value of hard work. As a young woman, she worked as a waitress at the local NCO Club, where she learned English from the soldiers who frequented the establishment. It was there that she met her first husband, Patrick Fritz, and began her journey as a wife and mother.
In 1959, Regina gave birth to her first child, who sadly passed away shortly after birth. Soon after, she and Patrick immigrated to the United States, settling in Levittown, PA. There, Regina embraced her role as a devoted mother, raising her children. Though four of them preceded her in death, her deep Christian faith sustained her through life’s most difficult moments.
Regina’s caring spirit extended beyond her family. She found purpose and fulfillment as a home health aide for the elderly, forming close bonds with many of her patients and treating them with warmth and compassion.
Outside of her caregiving and family responsibilities, Regina had a love for driving—sometimes a bit too enthusiastically. Her fast driving earned her the nickname “Mario Andretti Jr.,” and anyone who rode with her knew to brace themselves before a turn. That daring spirit behind the wheel lived on in some of her children as well.
Regina, one of her sons, and her second husband, Carl Dwayne Clevenger, Regina moved to North Carolina. In early 2025, she relocated once again, this time to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, to be near her daughter.
Regina’s family is deeply thankful for the care and kindness shown to her in her final months.
Regina is survived by her children, Mary Anna Mullins and husband, William, of Wattsville, VA, Patricia Hess and husband, Scott, of McConnellsburg, PA, and Keith Fritz of Fremont, NC; brothers, Michael Kreipl and Hippolyta Kreipl and his wife, Honey, all of Germany; grandchildren, Patrick Leppert, Danielle Leppert, Rachael Mullins, Jennifer Anderson, Elizabeth Long, and Harrison Shotzberger; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Brown, Skyler Leppert, Landin Anderson, Ellie Mae Leppert, and two on the way -- a girl due in September and a boy due in June; and a host of extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ani Müeller Kreipl; her first husband, Patrick Fritz; her second husband, Carl Dwayne Clevenger; and children, Irving Fritz, Roy Fritz, Patrick Fritz, and Michael Fritz.
To honor her request, no public service will be held.
