Mrs. Sandra Poulson “Sandy” Shrieves, age 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at home while holding the hands of her devoted husband of 50 years and reaching for the arms of Jesus.
Sandy was born on Friday, August 13, 1954 in Hallwood, VA to Carlton Jennings Poulson and Hilda Tapman Poulson. She married her high school sweetheart, Danny Purnell Shrieves, on December 20, 1971. It was then she began her longtime career as household manager, displaying a wonderful knack of making a house into a home wherever life took them. She also owned and operated “Sandy’s Short Stop” in Salisbury, MD for a couple years, where she greeted customers with her warm smile and kind heart. Sandy lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, cooking (for everyone), and spending time with her cherished grandchildren – biological and those acquired.
She is survived by her husband, Danny; her beloved daughters, Tobey McNeece Ferry (Roy) and Maisie Shrieves Reed (Kevin); brothers, Carlton Jennings “Carl” Poulson, Jr. (Corky) and Marshall Poulson; grandchildren, Chelsea Lee Martin, Walker Jennings Martin (Amanda), Chloe Grace McNeece, Ashlyn Kennedy Grizzle, Bradley Scott McNeece, and Victoria Brooke McNeece; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Cruz, Kameron, and Wrenn Lee; three nieces; one nephew; and many cousins, friends, and others who adopted her as their “Ta-Ta” too.
The family invites those whose lives Sandy touched to join them to reminisce, grieve, and support one another as they celebrate her life at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sandy’s memory may be made to Hallwood Baptist Church, P.O. Box 36, Hallwood, VA 23359. The family asks that you take a moment to hug your spouse, child, grandchild, or friend.
