Santiago Garcia Obituary

Santiago “Chago” Garcia, 44, passed away at his home in Hallwood, VA, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born on November 24, 1979, in Boynton Beach, FL, he was the youngest of all his siblings. He lived in Florida until moving with his family to the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

He was a hard worker and a die-hard Miami Dolphins fan. Chago spent his weekends grilling out and getting ready for the big game on Sunday afternoon.

Growing up, Chago was surrounded by his family. The older kids made sure to take good care of their little brother. He loved to be first in line, and as the baby, he usually got his way. When he was little, he was terribly afraid of thunderstorms. His big sister Gloria loved being his “thunder buddy,” and he would cuddle with her until the storm passed. His family surrounded him one last time, during a thunderstorm, as he passed into the arms of Jesus.

Santiago is survived by his loving, devoted mother, Yolanda Madrigal, and stepfather, William De la Cruz, of Hallwood, VA; daughter, Angelina Garcia, of Bloxom, VA; granddaughter, Violet Casteneda; sisters, Margarita Garcia (Gumaro Mojica) of Lake Park, GA, Martha Garcia (Juan Ake) of Moore Haven, FL, Maria V. Garcia of Lake Park, GA, Juanita L. Garcia (Alejandro Quiroz) of Onley, VA, Gloria Garcia (Carlos Zamora) of Moore Haven, FL, Luz Garcia of Moore Haven, FL, Rosalinda Garcia of Moore Haven, FL, and Molly Garcia of Houston, TX; brothers, Jose E. Garcia (Denise) of Stuart, FL, and Alejandro Garcia III of Port St. Lucie, FL; 27 nieces and 12 nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Alejandro Garcia Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, in Onley, VA, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., with Father Michael Imperial officiating. Interment will follow in the Parksley Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.
