Stephen “Steve” Phillips, 64, husband of Marie Phillips and a resident of Greenbush, VA, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Born February 14, 1957 in Levittown, PA, he was the son of the late Albert Sanford Phillips and Ruth Ellen Maenner Phillips.
Following graduation from Bishop Egan High School in Levittown, Steve completed a tech program specializing in technical engineering. Over the last several decades, Steve shared his expertise as a Senior Instrumentation Technician to several power plants throughout the Delmarva Peninsula, including Delmarva Power & Light, Conectiv Energy, and Calpine Corp.
Raised in a large Catholic family, many of whom were musicians, Steve’s carried a lifelong passion for music. His talents as a bass player and singer are legendary throughout the community, as he performed with the Eastern Shore’s most notorious bands -- Crossfire, Bennett Street, Storm Warning, South Bound, Footloose, and Eastern Shore native and Nashville recording artist, Mark Alan Linton. Steve was proud to share the stage with his son, Stephen, who carries on his legacy of love for music. As a longtime member of Onancock Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. No. 1766, Steve volunteered in many capacities, however, his favorite role was serving as Elroy the Elk during local parades.
In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his children, Stephen Phillips (Stephanie) of Ocala, FL, Rachelle “Shelly” Phillips (Zachary) of Painter, VA, Yvette Fortier of New Jersey, Renee Helm (Michael) of Woodstock, VA, and Robert Fortier (Terri) of Florida; sister, Gail Livolsi (Steve) of Levittown; sister-in-law, Judy Phillips; grandchildren, Makala, Lukus, Christopher, Tyler, Avery, Eliana and Preston; and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by a sister and two brothers.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Steve’s life at the family home.
