Susan Jane Backlund Scheuring

Susan Backlund Scheuring, of Accomac, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the home of her caregiver, Jeanette Troyer and family, whose compassion and loving care will be forever appreciated by her family.

Born March 16, 1947 in Kenmare, ND, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Stanley “Buck” Backlund and Lillian Rita Groshans Backlund. As a veteran of the United States Army and a registered nurse, Susan was very passionate in her calling to help others and proudly dedicated her life to caring for those in need. Having served in various nursing capacities throughout her career, she ultimately retired as the mental health administrator from Shore Memorial Hospital. Susan was a cat lover, enjoyed world travel, and was always learning something new. Among her many talents, she was a pianist, seamstress, knitter, and crocheter.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Sara Teichelmann and her husband, Michael, of Waco, TX; sisters, Sally Klein and her husband, Jerry, of Helena, MT; and Patricia Erickson of Horseshoe Bay, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held at Susan’s home, 23458 Back Street, Accomac, VA, on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
