Tricia Hart Obituary

Patricia Ange “Tricia” Hart, 78, wife of the late Francis Harrison Hart and a resident of Richmond, VA, formerly of Mt. Nebo, VA, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024. Born May 13, 1946 in Alexandria, VA and raised in Annandale, VA, she was the daughter of the late Justus and Ruth Hoddinott Ange.

Tricia graduated from Annandale High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. Her academic journey later continued at the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, VA, where she earned her law degree.

Throughout her life, Tricia remained a staunch advocate for justice, fairness, and the rights of women, children, and the less fortunate. Prior to attending law school, Tricia taught public school in the greater Charlottesville area. Balancing the demands of motherhood with her legal studies, she worked various part-time jobs, including production work in a welding and metal fabrication factory in rural Goochland County. Her resilience and dedication shone through her diverse career as she became a respected private practice attorney in Goochland County and the Richmond metro area. Tricia served as County Attorney for Goochland County and worked with the Commonwealth of Virginia Fair Housing Office, and later became an instructor of business law at Rappahannock Community College in Saluda, VA. After relocating to Accomack and Northampton Counties on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, her commitment to justice continued first through her role with Legal Aid, providing legal services and advice to individuals needing guidance, and later with the Social Security Administration, assisting people with the often-complicated application and appeal process.

Tricia was a loving and fiercely loyal mother, sister, daughter, wife, and friend. She adored her husband, Francis, and son, Nathan, who were the loves of her life. Her tender heart extended beyond people, as she loved all animals and was a devoted ‘dog Mom.’ Tricia was an avid reader, writer, and classic movie enthusiast. She had a deep appreciation for a variety of domestic and international cuisines, and she was especially fond of Eastern Shore seafood. Tricia was honored to have had the opportunity to shake hands with former President John F. Kennedy, a memory she greatly cherished.

Tricia’s legacy of compassion and commitment to making the world a better place will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Nathan Stone Buttleman and his wife, Danielle Anne Kluz, of St. Paul, MN; sister, Nancy Kozsewski of Henrico, VA; brother, R. Levin Ange of West Virginia; and niece and goddaughter, Vicki A. Hippchen and her husband, Mark, as well as their family.

The family will receive friends at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, in Glen Allen, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., immediately followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock, VA.
