Verna Mae Rager, 92, wife of the late Albert Lewis Rager and a resident of Onancock, VA, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, Commonwealth Senior Living in Onancock. Born in Bridgeton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Clifford C. Davis and Marion Hughes Davis.
Over the years, Verna and the love of her life, her husband Albert, went on over 50 cruises. They loved riding the high seas. Albert was in the Navy and she and the kids moved with him throughout the country, which surely influenced her love of travel. Gardening and reading filled her days. She was a great storyteller and could recant tales she read with abundant descriptions and with much enthusiasm.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy McCabe (Ronald) of Onancock, and Cynthia McKiddie (Frank) of Suffolk, VA; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Douglas Michael Rager.
Verna was a private person and never wanted much of a fuss, so in accordance with her wishes, there will be no public service. Instead, she would want you to consider doing something kind for someone else in her memory.
