Walter Thomas Watkinson

Walter Thomas “Buck” Watkinson, Jr., 67, of Salisbury, MD, formerly of Parksley, VA, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury. Born March 18, 1957, he was the son of the late Walter DeCormis Watkinson and the late Julia Ann Hickman Watkinson.

Raised in a Christian home, Buck’s faith in the Lord remained a constant throughout his life. He was a longtime member of Salisbury Baptist Temple, where he rarely missed Sunday service and was always willing to lend a hand where needed. For many years, he worked as a bus driver for Accomack County Public Schools, and after moving to Salisbury, began working for Shore Transit. Buck was known for his relentless work ethic, his love for westerns, playing BINGO at the community center at Pine Bluff Village Apartments, and his excitement to enjoy a good meal, especially on Sundays after church. Those who knew Buck will miss his comical personality, and most of all, his heart of gold. 

Buck is survived by his daughter, Alexis Watkinson of Temperanceville, VA, and her daughter, Brooklyn; nephew, John Mears, Jr. of Pocomoke City, MD; dear friends, John Parker, Carl Grey, and Greg “Pooch” Jones; and his closest friend and caregiver, Charlene Jones. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Mears, and her husband, John Mears, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Mount Holly Cemetery on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Oren Perdue officiating.
