Wendy Beverly Gomez-Morales

Wendy Beverly Gomez-Morales, 24, of Greenbush, VA, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. Born on February 8, 2000, she was the beloved daughter of Oliverio Gomez Escalante and Eustaquia Morales-Mejia.
Wendy was a joy to everyone who knew her—a beautiful young woman, both inside and out, who carried a warm heart and an easy-going spirit. She had a gift for connecting with others, which she shared with the children she taught at East Coast Migrant Head Start. Watching her students grow and learn was one of her greatest joys. Wendy also brought her love of teaching to Mappsville Baptist Church, where she led Sunday School classes with her unique energy and kindness.
Known for her vibrant, eclectic style and athletic spirit, Wendy embraced life’s adventures. She loved Lilo from Lilo & Stitch, Renaissance fairs, and anything related to Harry Potter. Wendy was a fierce soccer player, both at Arcadia High School and at her church, and found her deepest peace on the open road. She could drive for hours, windows down, her short, dark hair flowing freely in the wind as she took in the world around her. Nature was her happy place, especially the beach, and she adored animals, with a special love for her dog, Balto, and her bunny, Carrots.
Though she led a busy life, Wendy always found time for her family. She was often baking treats (especially anything chocolate) in her favorite Uggs, Stanley cup in hand, filling the kitchen with laughter and song. Her voice, sweet and carefree, could be heard throughout the house, a soundtrack to the lives she touched. Wendy’s family and friends will deeply miss her joyful spirit, her kindness, and the songs she filled their lives with, but find peace knowing she is in the loving arms of Jesus.
Wendy is survived by her parents, Oliverio Gomez Escalante and Eustaquia Morales-Mejia, of Greenbush, VA; siblings, Jonathan Morales Gomez and his wife, Marisela Geronimo, of Bloxom, VA, Jazmin Noelia Gomez Morales of Greenbush, and Edwin Esau Gomez of Greenbush; dear uncles and aunts, Julio Morales Mejia and his wife, Elodia Hernandez, of Greenbush, and Francisco Cruz and his wife, Hortencia Gomez, of Tasley, VA; and an abundance of dear friends and extended family.
A funeral service for Wendy will be conducted Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Mappsville Baptist Church with Pastor Eulogio Vasquez officiating. Interment will follow at Parksley Cemetery. A Visitation and Viewing will be held Friday, November 15, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Parksley, VA.

Se llevará a cabo un funeral para Wendy el sábado 16 de noviembre de 2024, de 11:00 a. m. a 2 p. m., en la Iglesia Bautista de Mappsville, oficiado por el pastor Eulogio Vásquez. Seguirá el entierro en el cementerio Parksley. Se llevará a cabo un velorio y velorio el viernes 15 de noviembre de 2024, de 6:00 a 9:00 p. m., en la capilla de Williams Funeral Home en Parksley, VA.
