Barry Johnson

Mrs. Mary “Barry” Hope Johnson, 74, wife of Edward “Wayne” Johnson and a resident of Bloxom, Va., passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.

Born December 15, 1940 in Norfolk, Va., Barry was the daughter of the late George Carlton Hope and Mary Moran Barry Hope.  Barry graduated from Parksley High School, Katharine Gibbs School, and received her associate’s degree from the Eastern Shore Community College.  She was a Real Estate Broker, and co-owned Alliance Realty, with her husband.  Barry loved to cook, shop, and most of all, she loved to travel.  She has traveled worldwide, and would often spend a month at a time on her trips. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Peter Moran Swan; his three daughters, Taylor Olivia Swan, Virginia Wilkins Swan, and Clare Chapman Swan; two grandsons, Dallas DeWitt Swan IV, and David Kenneth Swan; and four step children, James Timothy Johnson, Vicky Lynn Face, Fred Thomas Johnson, and Angelina Dee Barfield.  Other than her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Dallas DeWitt Swan III; and a brother, George Carlton Hope, Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate Barry’s life, will be held at the Woodberry United Methodist Church in Parksley, Va., Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., with The Reverend Albert L. Crockett officiating.
