Bill Thorpe

Mr. William Hunter “Bill” Thorpe III, 81, of Parksley, Va., passed away at his residence, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Born September 11, 1933 in Philadelphia, Penn., Bill was the only child of William Hunter Thorpe, Jr. and Edna Sisom Thorpe.  He served his country in the United States Navy; worked in the parts department of the former Eller Ford, in Keller, Va. and Tasley, Va., for many years; and retired from Perdue Farms, Inc. in Accomac, Va.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Josephine Thorpe.  Survivors include his step-children, Linda Pennington Kartak of Parksley and Delaware, Ohio, Michael “Mike” Pennington of Marengo, Ohio, David Pennington and his wife Patty, of Newark, Ohio, and Virginia C. “Jinx” Taylor and her husband Jimmy, of Parksley; and his step-children’s families.

According to his wishes, services will be private.
