Dimp Pittman

Mrs. Lillian Smith Pittman, 78, affectionately known as “Dimp” and loving wife of the late Thomas John “Tom” Pittman, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.  She was a recent resident of Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Va., and former longtime resident of Deep Creek, Va.

Born October 27, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John Ray Smith and Lillian Mae Smith.  Dimp graduated from Onancock High School, was a telephone operator for C&P Telephone Company, and a nurse’s aide at The Hermitage on the Eastern Shore in Onancock, Va.  She was a longtime member of Leatherbury United Methodist Church, and a vital member of the communities the church served.  Dimp was tireless in her commitment to a life of following Christ, and has followed Him, and her beloved husband Tom, home at last.

Survivors include two sons, Jay Pittman and wife Pam, of Pocomoke, Md., and Jerry Pittman of Exmore, Va.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew, Joseph, Jenna and Anna Paige;  and two sisters, Esther Pusey of Onancock, and Emily Carpenter of Willis Wharf, Va.  In addition to her loving husband Tom, and her parents, Dimp was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Mount Holly Cemetery in Onancock, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 3:30 p.m., with The Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating.
