Frances Stevens Parker, age 90, and lifetime resident of Wachapreague, VA, traded her earthly home for her heavenly home on Friday, February 27, 2015. She is survived by daughters, Ellen Cherrix of Melfa, VA, Lynn Ayers and husband Walter of Stuart, VA, and Cree Giesel and husband David of Chattanooga, TN. Frances had thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years, Ray Arnold Parker; daughter, Radean Hawkins; sisters, Christine Spence, Rose Jester and Lillian Annis; and a brother, James Stevens.

Mrs. Parker’s late parents were Thomas and Beulah Miller Stevens. She was a member of Ocean View United Methodist Church in Wachapreague, and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wachapreague chapter.

Frances carried out her duties of wife, mother, homemaker, and family financial secretary with total dedication. She clearly took seriously her responsibilities and carried them out in the best interest of her family. We would like to thank the staff, nurses, and CNA’s in the Alzheimer’s unit at Heritage Hall, for the loving care they provided our Mom. We also extend sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice of the Eastern Shore for the essential services they provided, and a special thank you to her granddaughter, Jenny Lynn Cobb, for her loyal devotion. During the years that our Mom was at Heritage Hall, Jenny was always available to lend a helping hand, spending days and nights with her Nana, as the end of her life was approaching.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend John Burr officiating. There will be a visitation, at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be held in the Wachapreague Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market Street, Suite 3, Onancock, VA 23417, or to the Wachapreague Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 390, Wachapreague, VA 23480.

Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.
