Mr. Glenn Pruitt, 74, beloved husband of Peggy Smith Pruitt, and a resident of Melfa, VA, passed away, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 20, 1942 in Nassawadox, VA, he was a son of the late Elwood Smith Pruitt and Beatrice Hickman Pruitt. Glenn grew up in Harborton, VA, where he spent his youth working the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Following his service in the United States Coast Guard, he returned to the Shore and worked for the former R.C. Evans for more than thirty years. He later retired from Shore Memorial Hospital, where he was a longtime security guard. Glenn loved all animals, often rescuing strays and feeding the neighborhood cats; enjoyed listening to country music, particularly the band, “Thunder Road”; and took great pride in his lawn and always looked forward to getting on the grass cutter. Above all else, his greatest love was for his family and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Richard Wallace and wife Stefanie of Accomac, VA, Danny Wallace and wife Cheryl of Melfa, VA, and Penny Moore and husband James of Bridgeville, DE; a sister, Yvonne James and husband Thurston of Stokes, NC; two brothers, Wallace Wayne Pruitt and wife Betty of Exmore, VA, and Dean Pruitt and wife Karen of Nassawadox, VA; four grandchildren, David, Anna, Taylor, and Brooke Wallace; and several nieces and nephews.
