Helena Taylor Killian
May 13, 1938 ~ February 14, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years OldMrs. Helena Taylor Killian, 78, wife of the late Dr. Harry A. “Bert” Killian and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.
Born May 13, 1938 in Mentor, OH, she was a daughter of the late William Milton Taylor and Johanna Francis Bradac Taylor. Helena completed her nursing degree with Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing, in Warren, OH, and later received her masters from Lake Erie College. Over the years, she worked for numerous hospitals in Ohio and Michigan until she and Bert “chose” to relocate to Parksley in the late 80’s. Until her retirement, Helena worked for Shore Memorial Hospital as nurse supervisor for home health services. Perhaps her proudest moment was achieved as a founding member of the Eastern Shore Railway Museum, where she served in every capacity, from president to secretary, at one time or another. She was a member of the Greater Parksley Association, choosing to devote her time to giving back to her community that she loved so dearly.
Survivors include her brother, William M. “Bill” Taylor and wife Juanita of Richfield, OH; sister, Barbara Ann Van Kan of Newberry, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Robert Lloyd officiating.
