Mrs. Irene Parks Edwards, 93, wife of the late Woodrow Wilson Edwards, and a resident of Riverside Convalescent Center in Saluda, VA, formerly of Northside Chesconessex, VA, passed away, Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester Courthouse, VA.   

Born October 29, 1921 on Tangier Island, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Allen Parks and Minnie Pruitt Parks.  Irene was a quality controller at the former Parksley Shirt Factory.  She was a talented seamstress, and was known for her generous hospitality.  She attended the former New Testament Church, in Deep Creek, VA, where she was very active.  Irene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her contagious smile and loving nature will be greatly missed.    

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Keenan and husband Derek of Colorado Springs, CO, and Joan Miles and husband Donald of Gloucester Point, VA; a daugther-in-law, Shirley Bundick Edwards of Onancock, VA; four granddaughters, four great-grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Woodrow Allen Edwards; and two brothers, Thomas and Everett Parks.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with Dr. Derek Keenan officiating.  Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, with Dr. Klyne Snodgrass officiating.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
