Joyce May (Patterson) Via

Mrs. Joyce May Via, 83, wife of Jerry L. Via and a resident of Parksley, Va., formerly of Virginia Beach, Va. for seventeen years, and Gap Mills, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley.

Born August 1, 1931 in Selma, Va., she was a daughter of the late George F. Patterson and Annie Long Patterson.  Joyce received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lynchburg College in 1953; and was a school teacher and ‘Navy Wife’.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Mark Via, Jo Aiken (and her husband James), all of Virginia Beach, Va., Karen Finster of Parksley, Patricia Via (and her husband Dr. Desmond Cook) of Virginia Beach, and James Via (and his wife Jamie), of Worthington, Oh.; her grandchildren, Megan O’Hara, Chelsea Aiken, Olivia Aiken, Rachel Cook, Daniel Cook, Jonathan Via, and Jordan Via; and a sister, Mary Nicely of Eagle Rock, Va.

At Joyce’s request, no public services will be held.
