Mrs. Ella Marie Dise Pruitt, 98, wife of the late Thomas Asbury Pruitt and a lifelong resident of Tangier Island, VA, walked graciously into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 22, 2018.
Born February 20, 1920 on Tangier, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Colson Dise and Mina Pruitt Dise. Mrs. Pruitt was a longtime dedicated and faithful member of New Testament Church. In serving and loving her Lord and church, she was a Sunday School teacher, cooked meals for the Mission House, attended and led prayer meetings, and loved to sing. She was a gracious hostess to many throughout the years, and hospitable to all for whom she had the pleasure of providing.
Survivors include two children, Jerry Frank Pruitt and wife Inez, and Connie Pruitt Parks; brothers, Preston Dize, and William Dize and wife Dottie; sister-in-law, Ruby Dise, all of Tangier; six grandchildren, Shirley Parks Rice, Beverly Parks, Stewart Parks, Allen Parks, Anna Pruitt Parks, and Irene Marie Thomas; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; her first great-great grandchild is expected any day. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Joy Pruitt Parks; sister, Pearl Morgan; and brother, Fuller Dise.
Funeral services will be held at the New Testament Church on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Steve Willing and Elder Duane Crockett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
