Born February 24, 1977 in Hopeton, VA, Joanna was a daughter of the late John Riley Thornes, Jr. and Lillian Parks Thornes.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorelei Lillian Young of Mears, VA; two sisters, Pat Burdette and Jessica Thornes; four brothers, Sammy J. Taylor, Michael Taylor, John R. Thornes III, and Joshua Thornes; four nieces, January Taylor, Trisha Voss, Raegan Thornes, and Rachel Taylor; and six nephews, Andrew Taylor, Patrick Johnson, Shawn Taylor, Adam Taylor, Dameon Thornes, and Connor Taylor.
A private family service will be held.
